Dennis Helsabeck

Dennis Helsabeck Associate Professor of History Milligan College

Dennis was born in North Carolina, but raised in Madison, Wisconsin.  From his college work at the Universities of Wisconsin, Indiana and Oregon, he received degrees in history and guidance counseling.  At Luther Seminary he earned an M.A. in church history.  After serving as a guidance counselor in a Green Bay high school, he worked at the University of Wisconsin, and at Northwest Christian College in Eugene, Oregon. 

 

Dennis came to Milligan College to teach in 1981, and except for a stint in Brisbane, Australia at Kenmore College, he's been there ever since. He is an Associate Professor of History

David Bruce

David and Melody Bruce David was born in Walla Walla, Washington.  He is a graduate of  Northwest Christian College, earning his B.A. in 1976.  David and his wife, Melody, were married on August 21, 1976, in the Powell Butte Christian Church by “Penny Penhollow.”  (Dennis Helsabeck was one of David’s groomsmen!)  David & Melody (from Culver Christian Church) then served in youth ministry at the Hillsboro Christian Church.  David was a student at Emmanuel School of Religion from 1979-1983.  During these years he served as the Associate Minister at First Christian Church of Greeneville, TN.  After graduating with an M. Div in Honors, he accepted the pulpit of the First Christian Church of Dayton, WA.  He served the church in Dayton for 18 years as Sr. Pastor, Youth Minister, Church Secretary, Choir Director, and oftentimes the Janitor.  In 2001 David earned his D. Min degree from Emmanuel.

 In 2002 David accepted the position of Sr. Pastor of the Enterprise Christian Church in Enterprise, OR.  He has served on the board of Cove Christian Camp and is on the Board of Associates for Emmanuel.

 David and Melody have two daughters, Crystal and Heather.  Crystal is a 2006 graduate of N.C.C. and is currently teaching music at Enterprise Elementary School.  Heather is a Senior at Enterprise High School and keeps David busy as he watches her in volleyball, basketball, and golf.  Melody serves as church pianist, H.S. Sunday School teacher, V.B.S. Director, and works at “Mad Mary’s Gift Shoppe” in Joseph, OR.

David thoroughly enjoys his summers near the Wallowa Mountains and takes pleasure in horse camping trips with his friends, and day hikes with Crystal.
